Key Principles
- CFA UK volunteers are seen as an essential element within
the society, complementing and supporting the work of the employed
staff, and are represented at all levels of decision making.
- CFA UK volunteers are people who contribute their time, energy and skills freely to benefit our members.
- CFA UK volunteering is unpaid. There is no payment or expectation of payment.
- CFA UK does not seek to establish any form of contract with volunteers and the relationship is not legally binding.
- CFA
UK is committed to the principle of equality of opportunity and treats
all volunteers fairly and on an equal basis, irrespective of their sex,
race, disability, age, religion or belief, or sexual orientation.
As a volunteer you can expect that CFA UK will:
- Ensure you are familiar with the society’s structure and
relevant personnel and that staff, at all levels, work positively with
you and actively seek to involve you in the work of the society.
- Give you a clear understanding of your duties and responsibilities and the time commitment involved.
- Recognise
that volunteers require satisfying work and personal development, and
will try to match your needs and motivations to those of the society.
Induction, training, information and support will be provided as
necessary for the role being undertaken.
- Provide each
volunteer with a contact member of staff who will provide relevant up
to date information, advice and support from the society.
- Recognise volunteers’ contribution.
- Maintain
a supportive and positive environment that ensures you enjoy your role
within an organisation that is dedicated to servicing its members.
- Respect your right to privacy and that of your contacts.
In return we ask that you:
- Support our aims and objectives and act as a member of the overall team in achieving the society’s goals.
- Observe the policies, procedures and rules of the society.
- Reach a shared understanding with us of your role and commitment.
- Are
open and honest in your dealings with us, declare any conflict of
interest and do not bring the society into disrepute either during or
outside your volunteering activity.
- Carry out the tasks to the best of your abilities.
- Let
us know if you wish to change the nature of your contribution, or if we
can improve the service and support that you receive.
- Respect all confidential information relating to the society and its members.
- Return on request any document, materials or other property which are held on behalf of the society and its members.
